Rabbitonne - Daily 15 #3

All of the rabbits gathered around at the back of the property.  It was time to do something about The Carter-McGees and their vicious dog, Shrek.  Shrek and the Carter-McGees had been brutal to the bunnies in the area and any attempt at revenge, whether it be chewed sprinkler lines or sabotage of a car sitting outside overnight (they had bitten through the younger Carter-McGees break lines, but Florida has no hills so the child lived), the Carter-McGee’s were undeterred by the mysterious damages and continued to allow Shrek to wander the neighborhood at night. They sent him out at any chance, hoping he would kill some creatures and paying no mind to any other damage he caused. The family also generated more garbage than they had ever seen. They removed mountains of it each day, piles of packaging and plastic and food containers and wrappers, cans, bottles, old sports equipment and piles of clothing and old trinkets. They were the most wasteful humans the rabbits had ever seen and there were only three of them. The rabbits finally knew that they had to organize and make a big move to end this vortex of fear and gross slobs. They met at the back of the property. Everyone was on edge. They didn’t do this often.

The eldest rabbit, Gary, stepped forward. “I think we all know what has to happen here,'' he said. “I think we all have known in our hearts for some time what this would come to.” He was extremely somber and reverent as these words hit the crowd, some rabbits murmured “of course, of course”, some were shocked and the younger bunnies simply didn’t know what this could mean. They had only known lives lived in fear of Shrek. Gary raised his ears and spoke, “Does anyone have any problem with conjuring the Rabbitonne?”

“What about karma?”, one rabbit asked.

“I think it’s worth the risk.”, Gary replied.

That was the only question. The rabbits were silent.

“Okay then. Let’s get in our line. Young rabbits, follow and focus.”

The rabbits got in a line and focused on the house.

Gary began chanting, “Fuuuuuuuuuuck these humans with their baaaaaaaaggaaaaaaage and their traaaaaaash and their imaginary proooooooooooooooobleeeeeems”

The other rabbits closed their eyes and appeared to vibrate, and one by one down the line adorable bunny eyes opened, now glowing red and shooting out steam.  The steam rose and lifted and swirled and popped until it formed the giant Spirit of Rabbitonne, a glowing and powerful jackrabbit with ears that reached to the stars, bulging eyes and powerful legs. The rabbits could see again, and they watched as Rabbitonne enveloped the Carter-McGee home in a swirling rabbit cloud. In a breath, there was a gentle “poof” and the home and all of the trash and it’s trash humans were gone. Evaporated into something that could become something else more useful next time around.

Rabbitonne poofed and fogged back to the rabbits, who took the rabbit god in with awe.

“Let me bless you with a steamy hug, my friends. I know that only in your most extreme hour of need would you call on Rabbitonne to rid you of a dog named Shrek and some terrible trash people.  I hope I don’t see you again for a very long time. Please take care of this property.  Goodbye.”

The night was quiet. The lands were peaceful. Gary and the rabbits spent the rest of the night relieved and reflective and making jokes about how lucky humanity is to not all get poofed out of existence.
