A little taste of Salt Lake County's killer art collection...
I currently work for Salt Lake County and regularly attend classes and training at the county building. I am always stunned and moved by the art here, it's truly a WORLD CLASS collection of incredible Utah artists.....This is a tiny sample of a 400+ piece collection...just the ones that struck me wandering around on breaks from my bombass Excel training.
The close-up features some of my favorite goats in art.
I especially love this painting by Claire Taylor entitled:
"Thoughts on Existence as told by a Coyote II"
I had never seen it before and the Coyote in it makes me very happy, as does the delicate watercolor work she uses.
This mixed media beetle friend that my photos do no justice to is "Percusive" by Anthony Granato
I like a good Beetle painter.
And my all time favorite piece at the Salt Lake County Building is:
"Here and Now" by Sylvia L. Davis
The joy and movement in this wooden sculpture speaks to me. I love it.
So, my pictures are pretty shitty and again, this represents less than 1% of he art at the building, but each piece deserves to be acknowledged.
It really brings me a lot of joy to return to this collection and I'm always surprised.
Also, I realize that the art that moves me the most almost always contains animal characters.
Also, no one else in the building seems to be paying attention to any of it, which I think is a shame.
The End.
