Here's an interesting small town.
Our destination was this:
It is quite beautiful and there are many birding loops and we identified all kinds of animal tracks in the wide and sandy road pathways.
Here's a link:
Orlando Wetlands Park, where Florida is really pretty and cool
This would be a wonderful place to bicycle, which is an activity I don't love, so I guess it's...inspiring??
I took a whole bunch of what I thought would be better photos, but a lot of them were super "meh".
Orlando Wetlands is located in
which is a fascinating, rural spot
Also, there are some decrepit shrines, which is totally my aesthetic.
It is ALSO the home of Fort Christmas, which is a cool historical site with a lot of space and a really nice playground and hardly anyone goes there because no one gives a shit about history and no one wants to be reminded that it's a history of colonization and pushing people off of their land so we could raise our own grubby families and tell ourselves it was all ordained by God. Pretty gross honestly.
I took these photos on a visit last year, all of these buildings are closed now because of the #TrumpVirus.
The Fort has a museum inside that is surprisingly nice with weapons and farm implements and lots of terrific photos and textiles from some of the settling families.
1/4 of the museum is dedicated to the Seminole Indians, who were here first.

My favorite part of the place is the cabins that are set up to show what life was like at various stages after settlement.
Again, there are hardly ever people here, so you're free to roam around. It's really wonderful.
They keep it up beautifully.
I love love love the interiors.
There are also some houses from the 40's and 50's, as well as a schoolhouse that has been restored.
It's a special place in an odd place and a lot of photos can't do it justice and certainly don't convey the peaceful quiet of the property when I've been there.
I will always love a small town forever.
